Plant Essential Oils as Biopesticides: Applications, Mechanisms, Innovations, and Constraints

چکیده
The advent of the “Green Revolution” was a great success in significantly increasing crop productivity. However, it involved high ecological costs terms excessive use synthetic agrochemicals, raising concerns about agricultural sustainability. Indiscriminate pesticides resulted environmental degradation, development pest resistance, and possible dangers to variety nontarget species (including plants, animals, humans). Thus, sustainable approach necessitates exploration viable ecofriendly alternatives. Plant-based biopesticides are attracting considerable attention this context due their target specificity, ecofriendliness, biodegradability, safety for humans other life forms. Among all relevant biopesticides, plant essential oils (PEOs) or active components being widely explored against weeds, pests, microorganisms. This review aims collate information related expansion advancement research technology on applications PEOs as biopesticides. An insight into mechanism action PEO-based bioherbicides, bioinsecticides, biofungicides is also provided. With aid bibliometric analysis, found that ~75% documents having biopesticidal potential were published last five years, with an annual growth rate 20.51% citation per document 20.91. Research properties receiving adequate from European (Italy Spain), Asian (China, India, Iran, Saudi Arabia), American (Argentina, Brazil, United States America) nations. Despite widespread acceptance by governments, they face many challenges inherent nature (lipophilicity volatility), production costs, manufacturing constraints. To overcome these limitations, incorporation emerging innovations like nanoencapsulation PEOs, bioinformatics, RNA-Seq biopesticide has been proposed. novel technological interventions, have be used management future.

Plant essential oils as natural fungicides against stored product fungi
Stored product fungi cause severe degradation of food items during storage and also cause health hazards by secreting various mycotoxins. Due to negative concerns on health and environment, many synthetic fungicides have been removed through the Food Quality Protection Act in the United States which hinted the exploration of plant products as safe fungicides. Different in vitro studies have dem...
متن کاملApplications of Essential Oils in Food Preservation
Many food products are perishable by nature and require protection from spoilage during their preparation, storage and distribution to give them desired shelf-life. Because food products are now often sold in areas of the world far distant from their production sites, the need for extended safe shelf-life for these products has also expanded. Currently, there is a strong debate about the safety...

Alstromeria has beautiful flowers that is popular in the world. One of the most problem in commercial of this flower is ethylene sensitivity and bacterial contamination in stem end of cut flowers. In this experiment, effect of essential oils of bitter orange (0, 25 and 50 mg l-1) and lawson cypress (0, 100 and 200 mg l-1) and nonchemical treatment (with and without) with 18 treatments, 3 replic...

The antimicrobial activity of plant oils and extracts has been recognized for many years. However, few investigations have compared large numbers of oils and extracts using methods that are directly comparable. In the present study, 52 plant oils and extracts were investigated for activity against Acinetobacter baumanii, Aeromonas veronii biogroup sobria, Candida albicans, Enterococcus faecalis...

Certain essential plant oils, widely used as fragrances and #avors in the perfume and food industries, have long been reputed to repel insects. Recent investigations in several countries con"rm that some plant essential oils not only repel insects, but have contact and fumigant insecticidal actions against speci"c pests, and fungicidal actions against some important plant pathogens. As part of ...
